During the last few years, the internet has become the primary route for most people to find goods and services. Over that time, most of our work has been residential, with the notable exception of the $4 million Thomastown Medical Centre.

But that hasn’t always been the case. John Blight has considerable experience with commercial and industrial buildings, going back many years. More recently, during a stint as senior project leader with a mid-sized city practice, John was principally responsible for a number of large retail projects.  This work ranged from design development and documentation of shells and fit-outs worth tens of millions, to the design from inception of a major retail centre valued at well over 100 million dollars.

During the same period, and at the same firm, Belinda honed her skills in the interior design group, building on her formal qualifications as a Visual Merchandiser and Commercial Cook and experience working in both retail sales and hospitality. She worked as part of a small team on fitouts for retail tenancies, restaurants and bars and mall treatments.

Blight Architects also has a strong interest in design for Aged Care, the subject of Jacquie’s final year thesis.

So, whether it be a factory or warehouse, restaurant or shop, medical clinic or aged care, we have the knowledge, experience and capacity to meet your needs.

We have also included multi-unit residential developments under the commercial heading, because although they are residential buildings, they are commercially driven. As well as requiring a different mindset from a private house, design of these developments also involves analysis of and response to complex planning constraints.
