Pretty House Eltham

A couple of empty nesters wanted to create a 'sanctuary' for their retirement. They required space  for hobbies and visiting family, with interesting views that would link inside to outside. Notwithstanding the sloping site, this connection also had to be a physical one, with all spaces easily accessible.

Combined with a number of existing protected trees, and the north-facing frontage, this created an interesting set of design constraints and opportunities.

The result is a house on one level with rooms opening off a north-south gallery space and forming a series of private courtyards that welcome in the sun.
